Description of the drug

Kestin® is a modern antihistamine for systemic use, intended for the symptomatic treatment of allergic diseases. The active substance ebastine provides a rapid, pronounced and long-lasting antiallergic effect without significant effects on the central nervous system.
The drug begins to act 1 hour after administration, and the antihistamine effect persists for more than 24–48 hours, which allows it to be used once a day.

Mechanism of action

Ebastine is a highly selective antagonist of histamine H₁-receptors.
Does not penetrate the blood-brain barrier, therefore it has a low risk of sedative effects and does not affect the speed of psychomotor reactions at recommended doses.

Indications for use

• seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis;
• allergic conjunctivitis;
• chronic idiopathic urticaria;
• allergic dermatitis.

Method of administration and dosage:

Take orally, regardless of meals, with water.

• Adults and children over 12 years of age:
    • 10 mg 1 time per day;
    • with severe symptoms - 20 mg 1 time per day.
• Patients with severe liver failure - no more than 10 mg / day.

The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor and may be extended until the symptoms disappear.

Contraindications

• hypersensitivity to ebastine or other components of the drug;
• age up to 12 years;
• rare hereditary disorders of lactose metabolism.

Precautions

Use with caution in:

• prolongation of the QT interval;
• hypokalemia;
• simultaneous use with azole antifungals or macrolides.

Not recommended for the relief of acute allergic reactions in emergency conditions.

Use during pregnancy and lactation.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended due to limited clinical data.

Storage conditions
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C, out of the reach of children.
